Founded around 1716 in the middle of the Edo period by Ishichi Ioriya, the third head of the Ioriya family, the company has been producing and selling only Japanese sake for about 300 years. Kumaya Sake Brewery uses 100% sacred water from the mountains behind the brewery and faithfully follows the traditional methods of sake brewing. The brewery has won the Hiroshima Regional Taxation Bureau's Excellence Award for four consecutive years.
