Usui Katsusaburou Brewery Company
Hokkaido
Usui Katsusaburo Shoten, the brewery behind Kita no Katsu, is Japan’s easternmost sake brewery, located in Nemuro, Hokkaido—a place famous for Nosappu Cape, where Japan’s earliest sunrise can be seen. This storied sake brand traces its origins back to September of 1887, when Katsusaburo Usui emigrated from Niigata and began brewing sake in Nemuro. More than a century later, the brewery continues to uphold its time-honored techniques, crafting sake that perfectly complements the region’s renowned seafood. Kita no Katsu remains a beloved northern sake, deeply rooted in its rich natural surroundings and changing seasons.
