Higashi-Iida Sake Brewery Company
Nagano
Higashi-Iida Shuzoten Brewery was founded in 1865, just before the Meiji Restoration in the late Edo period. For over 150 years, it has been loved by the local community. While preserving the tradition of crafting “sake cherished by the locals,” the brewery is now run by a close-knit trio of siblings who share a passion for manga and video games. Each sibling brings their unique personality to the brewery, working together as “three toji (master brewers) under one roof.”
With an annual production of around 20,000 liters, it is one of the smallest breweries in the prefecture. Their signature brand, Motooi no Matsu, is known for its clean, smooth flavor. When warmed, the sake reveals a bold, robust character—an expression of the taste that has been passed down through generations.
