Hagiwara Brewery Company
Ibaraki
Hagiwara Shuzo is a long-established sake brewery founded in 1855, located in Sakai Town, Ibaraki Prefecture. Situated along the Tone River, the area has long prospered as a key transportation hub thanks to its abundant water resources.
Now run by the sixth generation, the brewery continues to uphold traditional methods. Its flagship sake, Toku Masamune, is said to be named after the idea that sake should be enjoyed both in moments of joy and sorrow—what they call the “virtue of sake.”
While many breweries have begun exploring products beyond sake, such as sweets and cosmetics, in response to declining consumption, Hagiwara Shuzo remains committed to crafting high-quality, delicious sake. Even as drinking habits change over time, they strive to be a passionate brewery that honors tradition while continuing to challenge themselves and offer something fresh to their customers.
