Hakuro Brewery Company
Niigata
Since its founding in 1751 (Hōreki 1), Hakuro Brewery has been brewing sake in Nagaoka, Echigo (present-day Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture), navigating Japan’s dynamic history while contributing to the nation's culinary culture.
Although the people involved in brewing have changed over the years, the company’s core philosophy—“to create delicious sake that brings joy to many”—has remained unchanged and continues to guide its craft today.
Building on this long-standing tradition as its greatest strength, the brewery uses Gohyakumangoku, a sake rice variety well-suited to Niigata’s climate. In a naturally blessed environment, Hakuro Shuzo brings together the refined techniques of Echigo toji (master brewers) and modern brewing technology to produce its signature style: light, crisp, and dry sake.
Thanks to this commitment, Hakuro’s premium sake lineup has earned strong support from sake enthusiasts across Japan—from north to south—as a sake born of Niigata’s proud brewing heritage. Looking to the future, Hakuro Brewery remains dedicated to preserving and evolving the culture of sake, while staying true to its history and traditions as one of Niigata’s distinguished breweries.
