Suisen Brewery Company
Iwate
On March 11, 2011, at 2:46 PM, Suisen Sake Brewery was devastated by the massive tsunami following the Great East Japan Earthquake. Located just two kilometers from the coast, the brewery lost its historic buildings—some designated cultural properties—and seven beloved employees.
Despite this immense loss, the brewery rose again, driven by a strong desire to "reclaim daily life" and "carry on its history," along with the generous support of many. They established a new facility and have been steadily expanding their lineup ever since.
While the sake industry continues to evolve with the times, Suisen remains committed to passing on both their brewing techniques and spirit. Their focus endures: crafting “beautiful sake rooted in local climate,” and “rich, balanced brews that never tire the palate.” Through resilience and tradition, the brewers at Suisen continue their mission of preserving and sharing fine sake with the world.
