Sogen Brewery Company
Ishikawa
Sogen Brewery was founded in 1768 (Meiwa 5) and has long been a beloved part of the local community. From the beginning, locals affectionately referred to the sake as "Sogen Sake," taking the name from the Sogen family who founded the brewery. Since then, the brewery has remained committed to producing sake deeply rooted in the region, known for its mellow, slightly sweet flavor.
Sogen has earned a strong reputation for high-quality sake, especially for its ginjo varieties, which are celebrated among sake connoisseurs for their rich and elegant aroma. Located in Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture—the birthplace of the renowned Noto Toji (master brewers)—the brewery has traditionally focused on producing full-bodied table sake to suit the tastes of local farmers and fishermen.
In recent years, however, Sogen has expanded its focus to include premium "tokutei meisho-shu" (designated sakes), aiming for a more refined flavor profile while maintaining the depth and character of its roots. Balancing tradition with innovation, Sogen continues to craft sake that reflects both its heritage and evolving aspirations.
