Very enjoyable sake with a light, clean body and dry finish. It has a slight spicy kick that adds character without being too strong beneath the crisp profile. I had it warmed, which brought out the flavor more while still keeping its dry character. Versatile with food, a good deal for the cost, and would buy again.

Highly recommend! Hakkaisan Tokubetsu Junmai is a great choice if you’re a fan of Junmai sake. It has a lighter, cleaner taste than many junmai I’ve tried, while still maintaining a stronger, fuller body when compared to honjozo. Smooth, dry, and refined, without any harsh vinegar-like sharpness. There’s a gentle umami flavor that makes it very pleasant and easy to enjoy. I had mine warm, which really brought out its depth, and I bought my bottle from Tippsy Sake, I’d absolutely get it again.

It has a slight vinegar-like note, with a body that sits between light and strong but leans lighter, along with mild acidity. Overall it’s decent, just not really my preference, though it wouldn’t be a bad choice for others.
