Very enjoyable sake with a light, clean body and dry finish. It has a slight spicy kick that adds character without being too strong beneath the crisp profile. I had it warmed, which brought out the flavor more while still keeping its dry character. Versatile with food, a good deal for the cost, and would buy again.

Very good, dry and not too rich flavor. Best at room temp. Slightly spicy taste but not strong at all, definitely worth a try.

Highly recommend! Hakkaisan Tokubetsu Junmai is a great choice if you’re a fan of Junmai sake. It has a lighter, cleaner taste than many junmai I’ve tried, while still maintaining a stronger, fuller body when compared to honjozo. Smooth, dry, and refined, without any harsh vinegar-like sharpness. There’s a gentle umami flavor that makes it very pleasant and easy to enjoy. I had mine warm, which really brought out its depth, and I bought my bottle from Tippsy Sake, I’d absolutely get it again.

A good option if you like junmai with more acidity, a robust body, and a tangy character. It has a stronger taste than most junmai, which can come across as vinegar-like compared to softer styles. It’s not for me, but I can see others liking it. If you’re looking for something lighter and smoother, try a honjozo instead.
