Gassan Brewery Company

Yamagata

"Ginrei Gassan" is named after Mt. Gassan in Yamagata Prefecture. The snowmelt from this sacred mountain takes around 400 years to become the pristine underground spring water—recognized as one of Japan’s Top 100 Famous Waters—that supports the brewery's sake-making. Founded in 1972 in Sagae City, Yamagata, Gassan Brewery is known as “the brewery of snow, greenery, and famous water.” Centered around local master brewers, it continues to craft sake using traditional methods. The region’s heavy snowfall and harsh winters enhance the aroma and freshness of the sake. Carefully brewed with devotion, their sake has earned numerous awards in prestigious competitions.
