Located in the northernmost part of Gifu Prefecture, it is situated in the Furukawa Basin surrounded by mountains such as the Northern Alps range and the Hida Mountains, which are over 3,000 meters above sea level. Since the Meiji era (1868-1912), the brewery has visited famous breweries across the country to learn sake brewing techniques, and has won top prizes at numerous sake competitions for its efforts to create beautiful sake. The sake was loved by writers and artists who visited Hida, and gradually became well-known among sake connoisseurs. It has long been loved by the local people as a sake that is rooted in the local climate and is served with seasonal ingredients to celebrate life in Hida.
