Takeuchi Brewery Company (Gifu)

Gifu

Founded in 1744 during the mid-Edo period in the castle town of Ōgaki, this brewery has a long history of sake production. The ninth-generation brewer, Masashi Takeuchi, made the bold decision to stop selling sake in bulk, though he initially struggled to define his own brewing direction. In 2012, he took a decisive step by shutting down the brewery’s wholesale business to focus solely on crafting sake. His goal is to create a well-balanced sake that is rich in flavor yet clean and crisp, ensuring it remains enjoyable sip after sip. While production remains small, with only six tanks brewed in the 26th sake brewing year, the dedication and passion behind each bottle are unmistakable.
