Tenzan Brewery Company

Saga

In 1875, in Ogī, Saga Prefecture, northern Kyushu, the Shichida family was running a watermill, flour milling, and noodle-making business. When a nearby sake brewery closed down, they decided to enter the sake-making industry. Using high-quality sake rice grown in the Saga Plain and natural spring water from the Tenzan mountain range—also known for its fireflies—the brewery has been crafting sake with dedication. Their main brand, "Tenzan," is named after the mountain and has been in production since the brewery's founding. In 2001, the sixth-generation owner, Kensuke Shichida, launched a new brand, "Shichida," which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
