Iwate Meijo Brewery Company

Iwate

In 1955, two breweries operating since the early Taisho era merged to form Iwate Meijo Co., Ltd. in Maesawa Town, Isawa District. Since then, they have produced renowned sake such as "Iwate Homare," "Okuroku," and "Oshu no ryu." In 1993, they began contract rice cultivation in the local area, including growing the elusive sake rice "Kamenoo" in Kanegasaki Town. In addition to sake, they also produce 100% "Kamenoo" shochu. One of their latest creations, the ultra-sweet, low-alcohol sake "Toramazu," which has a doburoku-style flavor, has been a hit locally.
