Kyuka Brewery Company

Oita

Kuge Honten was founded in 1860 in Usuki City, Oita Prefecture—a town celebrated for its abundant blessings from both the sea and the mountains—when a brewery was granted by the feudal lord Inaba Kantou. Since its establishment, the brewery has been dedicated to producing sake that fully captures the natural umami of locally sourced ingredients such as rice, barley, sweet potato, ume(plum), and kabosu, which perfectly complement blue-fleshed fish like blowfish, horse mackerel, mackerel, and amberjack. Moreover, through close collaboration with local farmers, the pursuit of a harmonious marriage with the region’s food culture, and eco-friendly practices such as utilizing local power, the brewery continues to actively contribute to society under the slogan “Engine of Hometown – A Sake Brewery Promoting a Regional Circulation Society.”
