Tangerine is a new addition to the Colors series, a line of pasteurized sake from Aramasa Brewery. It is brewed using Fukunohana, a heritage sake rice developed in 1959 by the Tohoku Agricultural Experiment Station. Once widely cultivated in Akita as a successor to Kairyoshinko, Fukunohana eventually disappeared from production, replaced by more popular varieties like Miyama Nishiki. This sake rice is known for its relatively high solubility, contributing to a wide, expressive flavor. At the same time, it retains the delicate and slightly wild characteristics typical of rice from the Tohoku region. Tangerine captures these traits beautifully, delivering vibrant acidity and a smooth, expansive umami for a sake experience that is both fresh and distinctive.
