Miwa Brewery Company (Gifu)

Gifu

Founded in 1837 in the city of Ogaki, known as the "Water City," our brewery has been crafting sake for over 180 years. More than 40 years ago, we were asked by Shirakawa Village in Gifu Prefecture, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, to create a sake similar to the doburoku served at the Shirakawago Doburoku Festival. This request led to the creation of our flagship product, Shirakawago Junmai Nigori Sake. Today, we produce nearly 2,000 koku of sake annually and, in addition to distributing throughout Japan, we strive to share the culture of Japanese nigori sake with the world, including the United States, Europe, Oceania, and Asia.
