This is a Nama-chozo sake, meaning it remains unpasteurized until bottling, giving it a lively and fresh texture. It features refreshing aromas of banana and tropical fruits, with a finish that reveals subtle hints of licorice and white pepper, layered over a crisp, mineral backbone. Best enjoyed chilled, Bulzai pairs perfectly with a variety of appetizers and seafood dishes.

Obata Brewery Company

Obata Brewery Company

Niigata

Founded in 1892 by Yososaku Obata, this brewery has over 130 years of history. Their motto is the 'Four Treasures of Sado'—rice, water, people, and the island itself. Led by master brewer Kenya Kudo, they brew sake with care using traditional early morning methods. They use sake rice from Sado, such as Gohyakumangoku, and Niigata’s original Koshi Tanrei. Since 2014, they’ve been using a repurposed former school building as their brewery and are committed to sustainable sake production powered by renewable energy.
