Koshino Homare 90BLUE is a new addition to the 90 series, designed to capture the special flavors of summer with a "90% polishing ratio, use of table rice, and juicy taste" concept. It is brewed from "Mizuhono Kagayaki" rice from Joetsu, Niigata, polished down to 90% to create a "Junmai sake that doesn't overly refine" the rice. This sake maintains a rich, impactful flavor due to the low polishing, yet its alcohol content is reduced to 13% for a lighter, refreshing experience that’s perfect for summer. It features the juicy aroma and effervescence of freshly pressed sake, and is delivered as an unfiltered, unpasteurized brew.

Hara Brewery Company

Niigata

Hara Brewery is a long-established sake brewery founded in 1814 (Bunka 11, late Edo period) in Kashiwazaki City, Niigata Prefecture, with a proud history spanning over 200 years. Located in the coastal Chūetsu region, Kashiwazaki is surrounded by nature—boasting 15 seaside beaches and the scenic Mount Yoneyama, Mount Kurohime, and Mount Hakkoku, collectively known as the Kariwa Sanzan. Blessed with abundant natural resources and a culturally rich environment, it’s no surprise that such conditions helped refine and elevate the taste of their sake over time. The brewery sits near the picturesque coastline of the Sea of Japan, where summer brings the scent of the ocean breeze and winter coats the land in snow. The natural surroundings, the warmth of the local people, and the cultural traditions of Kashiwazaki all come together in every barrel, forming a sake that reflects both heritage and innovation—built upon two centuries of craftsmanship. Their main labels include "Koshi no Homare" and "Gin no Tsubasa," the latter being available exclusively in the Kashiwazaki–Kariwa area. All of their sake is brewed with 100% Niigata-grown rice and underground water sourced from melted snow from nearby Mount Yoneyama—producing authentic Echigo sake that honors the local terroir. Over the years, Hara Brewery has overcome numerous challenges, including the Great Fire of Kashiwazaki and major earthquakes such as the 2004 Chūetsu and 2007 Chūetsu Offshore earthquakes. Each time, they have rebuilt with resilience. Today, their team continues to craft sake with pride and dedication, staying true to their roots while looking ahead to the future.
