In 1915, Junkichi Miura, a passionate sake enthusiast, founded "Wataya Sake Brewery" with the desire to create sake that he personally found delicious and enjoyable. He launched the brand "Kanenoi" and began brewing. As times changed and the expectations for sake evolved, the current head brewer, Mikisuke Miura, took over the family business with a fresh vision. He personally stepped into the brewery and refined the sake’s quality, introducing Wataya in 1996 as a sake designed to complement meals. Today, the brewery takes this concept even further, promoting "Shokuchu-shu"—sake that harmonizes perfectly with food. Honoring the founder’s original spirit, they continue to craft sake that is both delicious and brings joy.
