Tohwa Brewery Company

Kyoto

Towa Brewery is a small, family-run sake brewery nestled in the rich natural surroundings of Fukuchiyama, in the Tamba region of Kyoto. Originally founded in 1717, the brewery took a long break from production but made a remarkable comeback after 33 years. Since its revival, Towa has focused on small-batch brewing, producing just over 100 koku (around 18,000 liters) of sake per year. Their sake is crafted with great care using locally grown rice and pure water from their well, passed down through generations. Pressing is done using traditional wooden tanks, preserving the artisanal methods of old. Enjoy the authentic taste of handmade sake—lovingly brewed without relying on machines, and rich with tradition.
