Takeno Brewery Company

Kyoto

Takeno Brewery is a long-established sake brewery founded in 1847 and located in Kyotango, in northern Kyoto Prefecture. Its flagship label, Yasakatsuru, is the product of a unique history—the brewery was formed through the merger of four local sake producers, with a focus on safety, transparency, and strong ties to the local community. All rice used for brewing is sourced from trusted local contract farmers. With a customer-first philosophy, Takeno Brewery is deeply rooted in the region while constantly exploring new frontiers in sake. At the heart of its innovation is Yoshiki Yukimachi, who trained under legendary master brewer Toshihiko Noguchi and became a toji (head brewer) at just 25. Together with his two brothers, he continues to challenge tradition with creativity and passion.
