Hosokawa Brewery Company

Mie

Founded in 1850 (Kaei 3), Hosokawa Brewery is the brewery behind the “Ageuma” brand. Located at the foot of Mt. Tado in the Yoro mountain range in northern Mie Prefecture, the brewery produces both sake and craft beer. With just five members including part-time staff, it is a small operation dedicated to quality brewing. Their signature sake, Jizake Ageuma, is a pure junmai sake made exclusively with local rice varieties such as Yamada Nishiki, Kami no Ho, and Mie no Yume, along with natural spring water from their own well in the Yoro mountains. All of their sake is junmai (no additives), and the result is a smooth, light-bodied drink with depth and a gentle aroma that pairs beautifully with food.
