Located in Kashiba City, Nara Prefecture, Ookura Honke is a sake brewery founded in 1896 as Okura Katsuji Shoten. Although it temporarily closed in the autumn of 2000, it resumed brewing when Takahiko, the current 4th-generation master brewer and toji, returned from Yokohama. The brewery uses homegrown rice called 'Hinohikari' and employs traditional 'yamahai' brewing methods. Ookura sake is known for its distinctive and robust flavor, which deepens over time.
